  12. SO, WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT
  13.  
  14.     As some of you know, some may not know, on April 27, 
  15. Commodore layed off over 66% of its remaining staff in West
  16. Chester, include most of Engineering and Engineering Services.
  17. That following Friday, April 29, they announced Bankruptcy
  18. proceedings had been taken in the Bahamas.
  19.  
  20.     I got the inspiration to film some of these last days,
  21. certainly the last days of Commodore as we have all known it,
  22. no matter whether anything is salvaged by a buyout or not.  So
  23. I filmed a walkaround of the West Chester facility, the going
  24. away party that took place on the 27th, and especially the 
  25. Deathbed Vigil party.  
  26.  
  27.     The Deathbed Vigil was organized by Bryce Nesbitt and
  28. Randall Jesup, held at Randall's place on April 30th.  Although
  29. the notice was short, many of the people from the "Golden Years" 
  30. of West Chester made it back.  My film documents this in detail,
  31. covering songs (including the "Chicken-Lips Blues", written at
  32. the party and performed by Mike Rivers), a number of special
  33. events, and many, many stories.  
  34.  
  35.     I have had lots of requests for this since I filmed it,
  36. so I figured I would put out an announcement here.  Don't feel
  37. compelled to order it, I'm not going to starve even if Commodore
  38. closes down.  For any big Commodore/Amiga fan, though, it should
  39. be lots of fun to put faces to the names you've heard.  And for
  40. us it was at least something of a catharsis; none of this has
  41. been easy to deal with.

  43. CAVEATS
  44.  
  45.     We're not talking film artestry here.  This was filmed
  46. with my Sony 8mm and minimally edited on my A3000+.  I had a few
  47. offers of free studio time, but decided that if I couldn't do it
  48. on my system, we must have missed on the promise of desktop 
  49. video.  I'm not finished editing just yet, but I can tell you,
  50. we haven't.  There's no glitz, this is after all a documentary,
  51. some of it's as shakey as an AT&T commercial.  There are also a
  52. few rather raw segments, so don't order this if you're offended
  53. by a little harsh language.

  55.     That's about all I have to say on it.  This will be ready
  56. by mid-June.
